My cotten & down blankets keep getting bundled in their duvet covers. What’s the best way to secure them? Where to find duvet covers?

went away. However the allergies have returned, This may be due to
1. That synthetic pillows have mytes or mold??
2. That duvets have mytes or mold.
3. That my wife still uses feather pillows and duvet.

Do you think I need to buy new synthetic pillows and duvets? Any other ideas? Many thanks
Simon

  1. Fragrance-Free Says:

    Make the Connection

If you or a loved one suffers from Asthma, Allergies, Autism, chronic headaches, reproductive problems, Migraines, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Fibromyalgia, you need to read further and learn about the signs and symptoms of MCS - Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.

Most doctors will not tell you this because it is so simple and so “not medical” but nonetheless it is VERY important. Also, patients as a whole like to walk out of a doctors office with a prescription for some magical medicine and many of these meds either do not work or cause other problems.

Chemicals are often the root of all evil when it comes to your health. If you use any of the below mentioned items it is common to have sinus, asthma , itching, headaches, Migraines and allergy problems amongst other health issues. Get rid of them and your lungs will thank you and you will breathe easier.
In addition, many people become ill after installing new carpet, painting, buying a new mattress or home renovations due to the Benzenes and Formaldehyde.

I am a nurse with over 25 years experience in this area and I have seen a lot of people with various illnesses caused from chemicals and fragranced products as well as VOC’s in their home. This problem is growing as more and more chemicals are being introduced and used on a daily basis.

We are seeing more and more children with Asthma and respiratory illnesses. I can not emphasize how important it is to educate yourself about MCS and the harm from chemicals and fragranced products.

  2. Cathy Says:

I would say that if your allergies resolved for 6 months following buying new ones the problem is likely to be dust mites - your pillows gain 10% per year in dust mite droppings (which is the allergen). The time frame of 6 months sounds about right for going above your tolerance level for them. Your information does not fit with MCS as suggested by the previous answer. If you can, get a HEPA filter vacuum and vacuum all your bedding and mattress once a month. Wash the sheets, pillow cases etc in 140 degrees fahrenheit weekly for at least one hour. This should keep any dust mite problems at bay.

  3. Queen of the Dust Mites Says:

Simon: What has happened is that it has taken 6 months for the dust mite population to re-establish itself at a level that is bothering you. It is not practical to toss your duvet and pillows every 6 months. I have these special covers on my mattress, duvet, and pillows. Some of them are close to 10 years old, so the good ones last. These covers put a barrier in between you and the dust mite ***** and shed exoskeletons. These dust mites are microscopic creatures related to spiders that live in your bedding and feed off your dead shed skin cells. As you move on the bed, a cloud of microscopic particles that includes the ***** and parts of the dead mites goes up into the air, you breathe these particles and that is what makes you sick. Once the particle is in your body, your immune system misideitifies it as an alien germ invader and makes an immunoglobulin E (IgE) that attaches to the mast cells. When this happens the immune system starts making histamine, and it is the histamine that results in the symptoms of allergy.
Whether you select synthetic or natural fill, all bedding collects our shed skin cells, so all bedding collects dust mites. Get those covers and start washing the sheets every 7 days in this demite laundry stuff. I have terrible dust mite allergies, and I live symptom free by controlling my environment. I will give you a link to where I get that demite stuff and the same place probably carries those allergy covers too.
