How can you remove stains which has scattered all over a duvet? How do I get ink from a permanent marker from a cotton or wool duvet?

The duvet is nice and warm, however over time, I have noticed that my room is covered in little down feathers. They get on my clothes and sheets, and are just a menace. Is there something like a duvet cover that has small enough and strong enough pores to not let feathers through? Or am I better off getting a new synthetic one?

Bed Bath & Beyond and Linen N Things both carry duvet covers but the one you want is the allergy protection cover. Wash it before you put it on, however, because the material is very tightly woven and stiff. But it will keep the feathers from poking you and coming out. I always take mine outside when I take it off to wash the cover just in case feathers are flying.
