I love love love duvets. I don’t really like Ikea’s duvets because they don’t really last a long time. Keep in mind bedding is something you use nightly and I would reccomend Potter Barn or Anthropologie for a duvet! Dwell makes nice ones too!
yes, I like them. they really are necessary if you have a down comforter or another kind of bedding that cant be washed - so you just take the duvet off wash that the comforter inside stays clean-
Well, if you are a still sleeper, then they are great. But I am a mess when I sleep. I tuck the covers under my feet and ball them up between my knees, and pull a bunch under my face. For me, duvets are not an option, because the comforter gets all balled up inside them, and it takes a lot of extra work when making the bed to get it laying properly inside the cover. When I had a king-sized one, my hubby and I would both take a corner and shake the comforter down into the duvet…it was a major pain. However, I know people who love them. They are an affordable option to makeover a room easily. Personally, I would only put one on a rarely used bed in a guest room.
BTW, they are basically a pillow sham for your comforter.
In Europe everybody uses those. They are just a big pillow case for your comforter. I love them because it keeps your comforter clean and instead of washing it you only wash the cover. Also it gives you a different look every time you change them, one week you can have pink bedding, the next it’s green, blue, flowery, whatever you chose. I love that. Your best bet is to buy the comforters from Ikea or Europe as well, they do have different sizes and will fit better. Also they don’t come in huge sizes, so you and your partner will each need your own cover, which is kind of nice, nobody can steal yours In Europe everybody has a single bed, you just push them together if you want. That way you don’t move up and down when the other person rolls around in their sleep. Gives you a much better sleep!
Duvets are wonderful, easily washable, easy to fold and store, not like those massive comforters, where you feel bad changing your look b/c they take up so much space when you replace one. I decorated a guest room with 2 twin beds w/ ivory duvets and a cabernet and gold colored toss pillows and of course IKEA had the matching cabernet curtains. The whole look was very pulled together and I didn’t feel bad buying IKEA b/c the guest room had such infrequent use. Duvets for yourself, i would suggest Ralph Lauren, I have had three sets of Ralph Lauren duvets for 6 years and they are still soft and have a great sheen to them.
I would never buy a duvet from Ikea. Have you read all the questions about feathers coming out, and stitching coming undone? Buy the duvet from a good store, and make sure the thread count is at least 300.
Go back to Ikea for the duvet covers. They’re cheap, too, but much less costly to replace when they start to fall apart.
Duvets are super, cool in the heat, warm in the cold.I bought mine at the Bay a few years ago, feather, expensive tho.I sewed ribbons to each outside corner of the duvet.I then turned the cover for the duvet inside out and sewed ribbons to the corners. When covering the duvet tie the ribbons in a bow while sliding the cover on,the duvet stays in place when sleeping and a little shake keeps everything toghter when making the bed!Buy quality duvets ,they are truly worth the money.
