What is the difference between a duvet, a comforter, and a bedspread? What kind of duvet to use with faux finished walls-solid or patterns?

I have two duvets which i accidentally got thinking they were sheets. I have no clue what you do with them. Someone told me to put my mattress in them and they are like a sheet. IDK, what do I do?

A duvet is a comforter. Use it like one….

A quilt, usually with a washable cover, that may be used in place of a bedspread and top sheet.

Duvets are like comforters. You usually have to buy a regular, plain comforter that you put into the duvet cover. You can buy the insert (plain comforter) at any home store like linens-n-things or bed bath and beyond.

A duvet is a washable cover for a comforter that can be easily removed and washed without risking the fluffiness of a down or fiberfill comforter. It is possible to put a futon mattress in a duvet cover, but an innerspring mattress that needs to be fully wrapped would be better in 2 fitted sheets, one on top and one on the bottom part of the mattress. If you are interested in purchasing a reasonable priced duvet, IKEA specializes in them, with prices as low as $13.00 for a queen duvet and 2 pillow cases.

A Duvet is simply a cover for a down comforter or any comforter to basicly change the look or to redecorate your bedroom.

Its a cover for ur comforter. That way u can change the pattern on it without having to buy a new one. U should be able to return them cant u? If u cant…they come in handy.

Duvets are European in origin. They are usually filled with feathers, down, or some sort of spun synthetic (like polyester). They are used instead of using a top sheet and quilt or blanket, like commonly done in the U.S. If you mistook it for a sheet, what you actually got was a duvet cover. This is the cover for the duvet itself. If you don’t have a duvet, then see if the place where you purchased them will allow a return or exchange. You cannot fit a duvet cover on a standard mattress. It will not accomodate the thickness. A standard mattress is 7 to 9 inches thick, and many newer mattresses are 12 to 15 inches thick. If nothing else, you could purchase a duvet for your duvet cover and when the temps get cooler, just sleep with the bottom sheet and the duvet as many Scandanavians do.
