Ryan asked:
I bought a duck feather quilt today, but what’s the difference between that and a duvet….the duvet was just as fluffy. And is duck feather a good choice?

duck feather is awesome!!
duvet-a usually down-filled quilt, often with a removable cover; comforter.
quilt-a coverlet for a bed, made of two layers of fabric with some soft substance, as wool or down, between them and stitched in patterns or tufted through all thicknesses in order to prevent the filling from shifting.
comforter- bedding made of two layers of cloth filled with stuffing and stitched together

A quilt is a blend of fabrics that have been actually quilted, a comforter is a thinker blanket for a bed and a duvet serves as a casing for another quilt or comforter that you cannot wash such as a down comforter like the one that you just bought. It help to just throw the duvet in the washer as opposed to the down feather quilt….

A coverlet or blanket made of two layers of fabric with a layer Quilt: of cotton, wool, feathers, or down in between, all stitched firmly together, usually in a decorative crisscross design.
Duvet: quilt, usually with a washable cover, that may be used in place of a bedspread and top sheet.
Down Comforter: A down comforter resembles a thick, fluffy quilt, but is filled with down feathers from geese or duck. Down is extraordinarily light, soft, warm and luxurious, making the down comforter an exceptionally popular bed covering.
Most feathers lay flat with a central quill, but true down lacks a hard shaft and the fluffy filaments are bushy in appearance. This is what makes down so soft. It also gives it the ability to hold in body heat while allowing moisture to escape a desirable property known as wicking.
I got all this on the net. I hope this helps you.

comforter is something you use to cover the bed, used as a heavy blanket when it gets real cold.
duvet is a removable cover for the quilt.

a duvet is like an envelope with opening on one end with buttons or a zipper to close. a quilt is made of a backing with a piece of batting ( or feather layer) which is a flat rolled fiber pillow stuffin and a top that is then sewn together and bound on the ends. the sewing on this is done all over to make the back join to the front so that the batting does not shift. a comforter is usually about the same as a quilt but they don’t always have to have the extra sewing on it like the quilt.
feather is good.. just as long as you don’t have an allergy to it and make sure to fluff it. or all the feathers will end up in a corner.
