Most doctors and child shops like Mothercare advise the child has tp be a year old.

I had a thick blanket but not an actual comforter on them by that age.
My kids were probably closer to 2 , 2 1/2 before I let them have anything thicker.

My daughter is 2 and just now started sleeping with a comforter but not by my choice by hers. She hated being covered up.I used to be worried when she was younger though because she had this receiveing blanket that she wouldn’t fall asleep without. From the time she was like 12 months or so.I was convinced she was going to suffocate but her doctor told me after a baby is a year old then they more than likely won’t suffocate when something is in bed with them because they are old enough to roll over out of the way or move it.
